Football: Sri Lanka's Jaswar Umar appointed AFC match commissioner

Jaswar Umar, the current CEO of Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has been appointed as an International Match Commissioner for the ongoing AFC Under-19 finals in Bahrain. 

The top four teams in this competition will advance to FIFA U20 World Cup held in Korea 2017. 

Jaswar became an international Match Commissioner in 2016 after passing the match commissioners exam. 

He was one of six successful Match Commissioners in Asia out of a total of 86 candidates who participated. 

This Under-19 elite tournament was a great opportunity for him to display his talents and also learn new approaches in competition operations, where these learning’s can be directly implemented in Sri Lanka. 

Jaswar has successfully completed commissioning of the qualifying round games which was played within the last 10 days, and was appointed for a very decisive quarter-final game on October 23 between the host country Bahrain and Vietnam. 

FFSL’s CEO has also advanced to the semi-final level in a very short period of time. 

The AFC has recognized his talents and appointed him as the Match Commissioner for the semi-finals to be held on October 27. 

Sri Lankan football stakeholders and well wishers have appreciated his achievements which brings glory to Sri Lankan Football and to our country.
