An Under-16 4-Nation Football Championship will take place in Sri Lanka at the Racecourse grounds on March 10 to 14.
The teams taking part in the event are: Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan and Bhutan.
The tournament is being organised by the South Asian Japan and Under 16 Football Exchange Programme.
The tournament is being conducted by the Japanese Government and Football Association aiming the Olympic Games to be held in Japan in the year 2020.
Only developing countries have been selected for the contest to be held in Sri Lanka.
The tournament will be organised by the Sri Lanka Football Federation.
Sri Lanka will face Japan in the opening game on March 11.
No champion or runner-up will be chosen at the contest and it will be conducted only on a league basis.
Selection trials to select the Sri Lanka team commenced at the City League ground on Saturday (7).
Only players born on January 1, 2000 were called for trials.
On Sunday (8) players born on January 1,200 will be called for trials.
The next trials will be for players born on January1, 2002.
The final trial will be on January 21 and 22 where 25 players will be chosen.
