Colombo University became the unbeaten champions of the Inter-University Hockey Tournament 2015, after defeating University of Jaffna by 2-0 in the final worked off at the Rajarata University grounds in Anuradhapura. The Colombo University lads have been winning this title since 2010 and this was the fifth occasion they won the title after failing last year. Skipper and right-in Chirantha Wijesinghe and centre-half Thanuka Tennekoon, both former Sri Lanka Schools hockey players, scored in the sixth and 42nd minutes, respectively, for the winners. On their way to the final the Colombo side beat Wayamba University by 6-0 and Kelaniya University by 2-0 in the league round matches. They ousted last year’s winners Moratuwa University by 4-3 before defeating hosts Rajarata Univestity in the semi-final by 2-0 to reach the final. The Colombo side led by D.C.P. Wijesinghe, also comprised N.D. Perera, T.N. Hemachandra, Malinga Lakruwan, N.D. Janson, A.K. Liyanage, T.L. Tennakoon, R.T.R. Ranathunga, P. Liyanagama, R. Ranawakaarachchige, T. Piyumantha, P. Sameera, J.S. Dayarathne, Y.A. Withanage, G.M.Rajapaksha, A.Wijethilake, A. Ranasinghe and S. Peiris. The winning team is coached by former Sri Lankan hockey coach Rohan Dissanayake.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
