Nalanda College and Musaeus College clinched the boys and girls titles of the Western Province Under-15 Hockey Tournament when they defeated Ananda and President’s Kotte respectively in the final played at the Astro Turf strip in Colombo. The two finals were hotly contested games with Nalanda getter the better of traditional rivals Ananda by three goals to one and Musaeus overcoming President’s Kotte by two goals to one. In the third place play off St Peter’s recorded a win over Maris Stella while Sri Sumangala BV Panadura took the third slot in the girls’ category. Bandula Egodage, Assistant Vice President Corporate Affairs and Communication Nestle Lanka Ltd was the chief guest at the closing ceremonies with Sajeewa Wickramasinghe, Manager Activation and Sponsorship, Nestle Lanka the guest of honour and Rev. Fr. Trevor Martin Rector St. Peter’s and President of the Western Province Schools Hockey Association gracing the occasion.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
