The Sri Lanka Men's hockey team made a good start in their World League Hockey Championship first round campaign, beating Myanmar by 7-0 with a commanding performance at Penang in Singapore on Sunday (10).
For Sri Lanka Abeetha Fernando and Sandaruwan Priyankara scored twice each while Lakshan Nanayakkara, Assanka Welagedera and Harendra Dharmaratne scored a goal each.
However on Monday (11) Sri Lanka lost to Hong Kong by 4-1.
Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Women's team suffered a 1-7 defeat at the hands of Singapore in their opening game.
In their opening match they lost to Singapore 7 goals to 1 with skipper Madura Dharmaratne scoring the solitary goal for the Sri Lanka.
