The Sri Lanka Under-21 Women's Junior Hockey team is to participate in the Women's Junior AHF Cup 2019 in Singapore from September 9-15.
It is of significance that this is the first occasion more than 8 teams are competing in this prestigious Junior Women’s AHF Cup, as only 3-5 teams participated in past competitions.
The top two teams from this tournament will qualify for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2020, which is itself a qualifier for the Junior Hockey World Cup 2021.
Furthermore, in the Junior Asia Cup 2020, the top two teams from the Junior AHF Cup 2019, will join teams from China, Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand who have already qualified for participation directly, based on their results in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015.

Pool A: Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka
Pool B: Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Uzbekistan
Meanwhile, the U-21 Women's National Championship 2019 is underway at the Sports Ministry Astro Turf Complex, and will conclude on Sunday (9).
The Sri Lanka Hockey Federation with a view towards improving the standard of the game, has organised the AHF-FIH Coaching and Umpiring Course from June 2-10, at the National Olympic Committee Auditorium and Sports Ministry NISS Auditorium. Over 100 men and women, representing various districts, universities and associations, are participating in this course.
