Royal Turf Club (RTC) will hold its Deepavali Races next Saturday (29) at the Racecourse in Nuwara Eliya with a card of six races.
According to RTC, horse racing enthusiasts will get to witness the new imports of Indian horses participating on October 29, hopefully in all the races of the day.
The RTC hopes to conduct six races with a minimum of seven runners in each race.
"The RTC will be seeing new racing silks, by means of new owners who have purchased horses via the RTC auction sales and the formation of several new racing syndicates, which marks a first in the history of horse racing in Sri Lanka," the RTC stated.
Some of the highest rated Class one horses in contention will be Silver Streak, Santos, along with other horses like Charming Grey and Absolute Red who competes in Class three, and Hunhar Collorato in Class four, who are amongst the few fresh legs making their debut runs next Saturday.
The day will come alive with many other activities besides the main event, which is set to keep the crowd glued to the happenings.
The races will offer grand cash awards for winners while the organisers have set their focus on offering prizes to spectators too.
The RTC is keen and strict on their policy on drug-free racing, with the welfare of the animal being uppermost.
