Sri Lanka Women's Kabbadi team won a bronze medal at the 4th Asian Women's Kabadi championship held in the city of Busan, South Korea organised and conducted by the Asian Kabbadi Federation last week.
In the preliminary round Sri Lanka defeated Japan, Thailand and Iraq and lost to South Korea in the semi-finals.
In this game against Korea Sri Lanka were just one point behind the Koreans but failed to maintain it to the end where the Koreans ended up winners 16-11.
In the other semi-final Thailand defeated Iraq to enter finals.
As expected Korea didn't find things difficult in trouncing Thailand to win the Gold and the championship.
Sri Lanka kabbadi team included R.P.M. Chaturika, A.P.M. Hansamali, L.P.M. Pathmasiri, G.S.M. Jayasinghe, G.K. Herath, T.M. Wijethilaka, D.H. Buddhika, P.M. Thilakshani, I.S. Wijetunga, M.N. Wijekoon, T.M. Samarakoon (Coach), D.S. Gunasekera (Manager) and K.P. Perera (Technical Officer).

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
