Karting: Vinusha, Ashvitha top Karters at BGRC Championship 2016

The results of two novices events made no change to the championship's top positions as Vinusha Periyapperuma topped the Class Novices 'A' points tally, despite his 2nd place finish at the Bandaragama Go-kart Racing Club (BGRC) Karting Championship 2016. 

Periyapperuma accumulated an overall 179 points during the season. Ishan Munaweera won the Class Novices 'B' Overall Championship when he came second to Sanjaya Malinda in the final leg. 

Ryan De Bruin topped Class Novices 'C' following victory in the 4th and final leg of the Championship. Munaweera had 186 points at the end, while De Bruin's had 158 points. 

In the highly competitive Senior Class 'D', Jason Carron took top spot after a thrilling race, with Saurika Livindu second, ahead of Dulavin Mendis. 

Senior 'E' Class event saw Shyamal Mendis taking the chequered flag ahead of Shakthi Gunasekara and Dinesh Pathirana who were 2nd and 3rd respectively. 

Ramesh Perera won the Senior 'F' Class, with Ranjaya Dissanayake finishing 2nd. 

Ashvitha Wickrama won her pet event, the Ladies Open quite comfortably ahead of 1st Runner-up Thilini Wijerathne and 2nd Runner-up Madusha Harshani. 

In the three novices events, Mevan Perera, Sanjaya Malindra and Ryan De Bruin recorded victories. 

Upon the successful completion of 4 Rounds of the Championship, Ashvitha Wickrama had accumulated most points throughout the year, stamping her class with 200 points to win the Ladies Open Championship. Jason Carron emerged Class Senior 'D' champion with 186 points, while Class Senior 'E' category was topped by Dinesh Pathirana with 150 points, despite his 3rd place finish in the final round. 

Ramesh Perera won the Class Senior 'F' Championship with 165 points. 

Round 4 saw a host of talented drivers vying for top honours under 7 categories, with all eyes focused on the overall Championship standings after a full year of quality racing action. 

Spectators were treated to highly competitive and exciting karting action during Rounds 4 and 5 of the BGRC Karting Championship 2016 at the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit (SLKC) in Bandaragama, sponsored by David Pieris Motor Company Ltd 's Pulsar NS150, the clear winner in its class.
