The Annual MCA Over-40 'Sixes' 2017, for 'Elephant House Lemonade' Trophy, will be held today at the MCA and Thurstan College grounds, commencing 8.30am at both venues.
The highest number of teams- 18- in the history of the tournament, will be participating.
Cricketing veterans of CEAT Kelaniya, Laughs Holdings, The Finance Co., Deutsche Bank AG and AMW Group will make their maiden appearance and are expected to make the tournament more competitive.
The other 13 teams are: Fair First Insurance (formally Union Assurance General- 2016 Winner), John Keells Group (2016 Runner-up), Sri Lanka Telecom, Colombo Dockyard PLC, Janashakthi Insurance, SriLankan Airlines, Singer Sri Lanka PLC, Informatics, Sampath Bank 'A' and 'B' teams, Hayleys Group, HNB and NDB Bank.
The tournament played on the lines of the Hong Kong International 'Sixes', will be conducted in 2 Stages- 'League' and 'Knockout'- with 23 matches in total, including the Final.
The Final will be at the MCA ground.
Apart from the 'Elephant House Lemonade' Trophy for the Winners, there will be 5 Special awards namely, Best Batsman, Best bowler, Most number of Sixes, Most Senior Player and Man of the Final.
All those born on or before March 1977, are eligible to participate.
