The Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) prepares its pitch for the with the its 'B' Division 50-Over League Tournament commencing September 9 at the MCA Grounds and continuing at 8 other venues.
Unilever 'Fair & Lovely MEN' is the main sponsor with 7 teams vying for the 'Fair & Lovely MEN' Challenge Trophy.
John Keells 'B', Powertek Cement, Mobitel 'A', MAS Siluta 'A', Singer Sri Lanka 'A', Commercial Credit 'B' and Unilever Sri Lanka will face one another in 21 fixtures in the Preliminary round from October 8-11. The finals is scheduled for October 14 at the MCA Grounds.
The tournament returns after a 2-year hiatus and will be conducted in 2 stages- League and Knockout.
Besides the customary Special Awards of Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Match and Man of the Series, Unilever has added the 'Fair & Lovely MEN Man of the Week' award.
The curtain raiser will be Unilever SL vs John Keells 'B' at the MCA Grounds on September 9.
The official sponsorship handover took place during the media conference last Wednesday at the MCA in the presence of MCA President, Niran Mahawatte, MCA Gen.Sec.Nalin Wickremasinghe and MCA Tournament Committee Chairman Sujeewa Silva, while the sponsors were represented by Unilever Face Care Senior Brand Manager Daminda Perera and Skin Care & Hair Care Marketing Manager Nilushi Jayathilake.
