Ashan Silva, one of Sri Lanka's top motor racers once again claimed his title by bagging the National Championship award at the recently concluded SLAS (Sri Lanka Automobile Sports) Championship awards.
Celebrating the end of a tight motor racing season, Silva claimed two awards for the SLGT Supercars upto 3500cc event in both Gravel and Tarmac categories.
The SLGT 3500cc event being one of the fastest in Sri Lanka, is also the most watched. This is also a rare instance where one driver has claimed victory over multiple categories in this particular event.
Competition in the recently concluded season was exceptionally tough, as every single point was imperative to winning the Championship.
The prominence given to motor racing as of recent has also resulted in a number of new drivers entering the tracks.
However, Silva managed to maintain his record as the fastest driver on multiple instances.
21-time champion, Ashan's stellar track record last year led him to victory of four Championships in 2015 alone including the National Gravel Championship, National Tarmac Championship, SLADA Championship, CEAT SLADAR SPEED Championship for SLGT cars upto 3500cc thus retaining his title as the Best Driver in Sri Lanka.
