The first trial of the Sri Lanka Netball Pool for the Asian Senior Netball Championships will take place on January 20 at St. Joseph’s Indoor Stadium, Maradana.
The championship will be held in Singapore from September 1 to 9.
Currently a 25 member pool is undergoing fitness training for the event at Torrington Square.
The fitness training is conducted by Jayantha Siyamudali and Lakmini Samarasinghe.
Targeting the Asian Championship Tilaka Jinadasa has been appointed as the coach.
She is currently in Brunei and is expected to come back of Sri Lanka next week.
She will also be involved in the first trial.
The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka is hoping to increase the pool after that.
The Asian Netball Championship title has eluded Sri Lanka on three occasions.
The current champions are Malaysia.
The champions of this event will qualify for the next World Netball Championships to be held in England next year.
