The 5th Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships will commence on Sunday (10) and will end on September 17 in Pothchefstroom, Elgro Hotel Conference, NW, South Africa.
A seven-member powerlifting team will represent Sri Lanka at the championships.
Sri Lanka will be represented by two teams – seniors and juniors.
There are five members in the senior team and there are two members in the junior team.
The team will be led by Ransilu Jayatilleke. The coach will be D.M.U. Jayatilleke.
The junior team: Shehan Dilhara (83 kg) and Osara Bangamuwa (93 kg). The senior team: A.M.B. Kodikara (93 kg), Indika Paranagama (105 kg), D.K.R. Jayatilleke (120 kg) and Darin Weerasinghe (120 kg).
More than 450 powerlifters will take part in the event.
The event is conducted by the Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation.
