CH&FC (Colombo Hockey and Football Club), one of the oldest rugby playing clubs in Sri Lanka, has withdrawn from the ongoing Dialog Division ‘A’ League Rugby Tournament. The club officials have cited lack of facilities, training and sponsorships have promoted them to withdraw from the tournament. Few weeks ago CH sent back their foreign players -- Tumua Ioni, Rusuia Vukula and Irwin Fineu -- as it was in no position to meet their payments. CH was scheduled to meet Police Sports Club in a second round match at Maitland Crescent on Sunday (February 1). CH won the Clifford Cup in 1957, 1960, 1962, 1982, 1983, 1990, 1993 and 1994 and the Division ‘A’ League title in 1975, 1982, 1983, 1990, 1992 and 2000.
