Rugby: Pallekanugala JS, St. Mary’s emerge All-Island Girls Tournament winners

The Milo All Island Girls 7 a Side Rugby tournament conducted by the SLSRFA and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd under the brand Milo and played in the three age groups of Under-14, 16 and 18 at the Ruwanwella Public ground saw two teams of Pallekanugala Junior School Kegalle and St Mary’s BV Avissawella emerging cup champions in the three categories. 

In the Under-14 age group saw Pallekanugala ‘A’ recording a win against Imbulana MV while Pallekanugala ‘A’ got the better of Dehiowita National School in the Under-16 category and St Mary’s BV overcoming Mahinda MV Kurunegala in the under 18 category. 

Meanwhile Mahanama College Panadura, Ihala Thalduwa BV and Panduwasnuwara BV emerge Shield, Bowl and Plate champions in the Under-14 age group while Bandaranayake MV Ampara, Kuliyapitiya MV ‘B’ and Kuliyapitiya MV ‘A’ took the Shield, Bowl and Plate titles and in the Under-18 saw Orubediwewa MV, Janadhipathi MV Embilipitiya and Bandaranayake MV Ampara emerge champions in the Shield, Bowl and Plate championship. 

The tournament saw the participation of 45 teams comprising of 14 in the Under-14, 21 in the Under-16 and 10 in the Under-18.

Plate: Panduwasnuwara BV beat Bandaranayake MV Ampara 5-0. 
Cup: Pallekanugala ‘A’ Kegalle beat Imbulana MV 5-0. 

Under-16 
Shield: Bandaranayake MV Ampara beat Periayankulam MV 10-0. 
Bowl: Kuliyapitiya Central ‘B’ beat Orubediwewa NS 22-0. 
Plate: Kuliyapitiya Central ‘A’ beat Welagedera MV 10-0. 
Cup: Pallekanugala ‘A’ Kegalle beat Dehiowita NS 15-0. 

Under-18 
Shield: Orubediwewa NS beat Dehiowita NS 10-5. 
Bowl: Janadhipathi MV Embilipitiya beat Weeraparakrama MV Kurunegala 7-5. 
Plate: Bandaranayake MV Ampara beat Wayamba Royal 12-5.
