A last minute penalty by Thilina Weerasinghe, secured Navy SC a stunning 37-34 win against CH&FC in their second round match of Dialog Rugby League Championship played at Welisara today (30).
The match was deadlocked at 24-24 for a considerable duration before CH won a penalty with just four minutes before full time.
But Samuel Maduwantha's 60-metre kick failed to clear the posts, but Weerasinghe took a rather similar kick from the 50-metre mark at the brink of the closing time, to held Navy SC pull off a deserving win.
At half time CH were on the rampage and were leading by 17-10.
In the first round CH stunned the Sailors with a similar scoreline, but in the return match they were in the receiving end.
CH scored from two converted tries, a penalty try and a penalty.
Navy scored from three converted tries and two penalties.
