Sri Lanka beat United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 33-17 in the second round match of the Asian Division I Rugby Championship at Ipoh in Malaysia today (17).
The first half of the game was intensely contested by both teams but Sri Lanka managed to lead the halftime by a whisker 18-17.
Sri Lanka scored from four tries, two conversions and three penalties while UAE scored all their points -- two converted tries and a penalty -- in the first half.
Danushka Ranjan, Fazil Marija, Jason Dissanayake and Lee Keegal braced a try each while the two conversions and three penalties were put over by Thilina Wijesinghe.
For UAE Andrew Powell and Glen Moore scored a try each while Andrew Stevenson converted both tries and the penalty.
Sri Lanka will meet Malaysia on the third and final round game on Saturday (20).
