The Annual Invitational inter-School Rugby Sevens, conducted by Zahira College Group of 60s will be held at the Zahira College ground in Colombo on Sunday (18). Top rugby playing schools including Isipathana College, Royal College, Carey College, Lalith Athulathmudali MV, Lumbini College, Nalanda College, Piliyandala Central, Prince of Wales’ College, St. Benedict’s College, S. Thomas’ College, Vidyartha College and hosts Zahira College will compete at this event. After the first round the championship will be played under three categories namely for the Cup, Plate and Bowl championship. The Cup winners are set to receive a cash prize award of Rs. 50,000 while the runners-up will be rewarded with Rs. 25,000. A total cash reward of Rs. 130,000 has been allocated for the winning teams in all three categories. The event is co-sponsored by Allied Trading International and Faiz Brothers.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
