SL in Eng: Sri Lanka beat Ireland by 136 runs to win series 2-0

Sri Lanka thrashed Ireland by 136 runs in the second One Day International and went on to clinch the series 2-0 in the second and final game of the series at Malahide in Dublin today (18).

Put into bat first Sri Lanka amassed 377-8 and skittled out Ireland for 241 to gain momentum ahead of their 5-match ODI series against England. 

Opener Kusal Perera smashed 135 off 128 deliveries inclusive of 16 fours and two wickets while featuring in a opening stand of 147 runs with Danushka Gunathillake.

Gunathillake hit 63 off 78 deliveries inclusive of six fours and a six before Seekkuge Prasanna entered to deliver fireworks. 

Prasanna hit 95 runs off 45 deliveries with five fours and nine sixes and was featured in a 161-run partnership for the second wicket with Perera. 

Farveez Maharoof (29) and skipper Angelo Mathews (24) chipped in with useful knocks later on. 

Ireland lost wickets at regular intervals before their replacement for the day, Andy McBrine frustrated Sri Lanka with a stubborn knock of 79 off 64 balls come in later.

McBrine hit seven fours and two wickets before being sent back as the final Irish wicket.

Suranga Lakmal picked four wickets while Prasanna returned to grab two scalps. 

Mathews, Maharoof, Gunathillake and Dasun Shanaka, who was named the player of the series, claimed a wicket each.
