SL in SA: Proteas win second Test and claim Series win

South Africa cruised to a 282-run victory against Sri Lanka to win the second Test match and claim the three-match series 2-0 with a game remaining at Newlands in Cape Town a short while ago today (5). 

Chasing a victory target of 507 runs, Sri Lankans slumped to 224 runs in the scone innings as they suffered their second straight Test defeat within a week. 

Put into bat first South Africa posted 392 runs with a century each coming out from Dean Elgar (129) and Quinton de Kock (101). 

Sri Lanka faced experienced an unexpected downfall as they were bowled out for 110 runs, but South Africa chose not to enforce the follow-on on the visitors as they declared their second innings at 224-7, setting a target of 507 for the visitors. 

Elgar continued his form with a 55 in the second essay for South Africa. 

Sri Lanka's 19-year-old speedster Lahiru Kumara grabbed six South African wickets as he ended up with a match-bag of seven scalps. 

However the game belonged to 21-year-old South African speedster Kagiso Rabada, who claimed four and six wickets to claim a match-bag of 10 for 102. 

He was named the Man-of-the-match. 

The third and final Test match between the two countries will be played from January 12 to 16 at Johannesburg.
