Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has permitted Lasith Malinga to take part in the ongoing Indian Premier League, a media communiqué from the cricketing body said.
This would mean that Malinga has been released from taking part in this year's Super Provincial One Day Tournament in which he was appointed as the captain of the Galle Team. The local league is set to commence on April 04 and will run until April 11.
The decision to release Lasith Malinga from the local tournament was taken to provide him "an opportunity to play with much stronger opposition in the IPL tournament; which consist of international players," SLC noted.
