Sports Ministry issues gazette declaring Ball Badminton as a new sport

The Sports Ministry has issued a gazette notification declaring Ball Badminton as a new sport under the Sports Act with effect from June 25.

Ball Badminton is a racket game, played with a yellow ball made of wool, on a court of fixed dimensions divided by a net.

The game which is native to India, is played by five players a side.

A match consists of three games each consisting 35 points. The team that wins two out of three games is the match winner.
