Finally national swimmer Akalanka Peiris will be able to do some multitasking while training in Indonesia for the Asian Games.
The nineteen-year-old Peterite who bagged nine ‘A’s at the GCE Ordinary Level Examination is sitting his Advanced Level Examination which started on August 6.
Yet, he was also selected to participate at the Asian Games in Indonesia and is a pivotal part of the swimming relay team, which comprises the Abeysinghe brothers, Mathew and Kyle, Cherantha de Zoysa and Akalanka Peiris.
Approaching the problem in a pragmatic manner, NOC General Secretary Maxwell de Silva made an appeal to the Education Department requesting them to mail the examinations papers to the Lankan embassy in Indonesia.
The request was accepted and now Peiris will sit for the GCE advanced Level Examinations at the embassy and also be a part of the Asian Games swimming relay team.
