Second seed Anika Seneviratne of Sri Lanka created an upset to beat top seeded Mahin Qureshi from Pakistan 6/1 and 6/2 to win the ITF Under-14 Junior Singles Championships in Vietnam on Friday (23). The Ladies College schoolgirl did Sri Lanka proud with a power-packed performance which left the favorite no chance to recover. The Sri Lankan girls performed extremely well with Natasha Munaweera claiming fourth place and Probodi Perera fifth, giving them the overall top spot. If they manage to perform in this manner next week they could qualify for the next stage of the ITF competition to be held in Thailand in March, which will then be the qualifiers for the Asian team to play against the Europeans. In the Doubles Anika and Probodi justified their No.1 ranking with a hard fought 6/1, 5/7 and 10/5 win against Weng Si Leong of Macau and fellow compatriot Natasha Munaweera. In the boys category Ashen Silva did well to finish at fifth place and Thevan Perera eighth with Thevinda Perera 13th overall. The tournament had over 60 entries with 16 countries participated.
