Sri Lanka’s Nethmi Waduge qualified to the final of ITF Junior Circuit Week 2 tennis tournament with a convincing two sets to nil win in the three set semi final encounter over Jonea Bach of Great played at the SLTA hard courts in Greenpath, Colombo on Saturday (17). Earlier in the quarter final encounter Nethmi defeated compatriot Thisuri Molligoda. Sri Lanka’s Adithya Karunaratne who won the Week 1 tournament was unfortunate as she lost to top seeded Ting-Chieh Wei of Taipei. Nethmi will now meet Lian Tran of Netherland who defeated top seeded Ting-Chieh Wei of Taipei in the other semi final which was also played on Saturday (17). In the boy’s semi final encounters saw top seeded Hua-Chen Yu of Taipeo overcome Ondrei Styler of Czech Republic who won the first tournament while Jimseok Yoo of Korea) beat Cheng-Chieh Wang of Taipei in the other semi-final. In the girls doubles semi final Maryya Gorbunova/Ksenia Mikhaylova (Russia) beat defeated the Taipei pair Yi-Chen Pao/Ssu-Yi Wu and they will meet the winner of the second final between Matos Sequeira Fernandes (Great Britain)/ Lian Tran Netherland) and Taipeu pair Chun Fang Chang/Hsuan Yu Lin. In the boy’s category the Indian pair of Sanil Jagtiani/Anurag Nenwani will clash with Chieh Chen Yu/Hua-Cheng Yu of Taipei. The finals of both the categories will be played on Sunday (18) from 9.00am.
