Sri Lankan skipper Thisara Perera's knock of 57 in 31 balls went in vain as Sri Lanka slumped to a 30–run defeat against England in the one-off T20I that was played at the R. Premadasa stadium in Colombo.
Taking first lease of the wicket, England posted a total of 187 for the loss of eight wickets thanks to a fine knock by Jason Roy who top scored with 69 off 36 balls. His knock included four boundaries and six sixers.
For the Lankan bowlers, Lasith Malinga and Amila Aponso picked up two scalps for 30 and 29 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 188 to win, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 157 as Adil Rashid ran through the Lankan batting by picking three wickets for 11. CJ Jordan and JL Denly too picked up two wickets each.
Apart from the Sri Lankan skipper, the performances of Dinesh Chandimal and debutant Kamindu Mendis who scored 26 and 24 respectively were the only notable performances for the Lankans.
