Royal College Colombo is on the verge of being demoted to the Division II segment of the Singer Schools Under-19 Cricket Tournament after losing points for fielding an unregistered player at a tournament match.
At the end of the two-day tournament Royal Colombo has accumulated 55.92 points, slightly above Anuradhapura Central College, who will also lose their place in Division I.
Next season Royal Colombo and Anuradhapura Central will be featured in the Division II tournament as per the tournament regulations of Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, which states the two lowest ranked teams will be demoted to the next below category.
Prior to the confirmation Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya, De Mazenod College Kandana and Mahinda College Galle were at the risk of being relegated from Division I.
