Royal College beat traditional rivals S. Thomas' College 17-10 to retain the Michael Gunaratne Trophy for the third year running in a Singer Schools Under-19 Rugby League Championship match played at Mt. Lavinia on Monday (11).
Royal led the halftime 10-0 and went on to score from three tries and a conversion.
The Thomians played a contrasting game than in the first half, but they had to be contented with a converted try and a penalty.
This comes as a welcome and satisfying win for the Royalists, whose cricket team lost the 140th Battle of the Blues encounter two days earlier to the Thomian cricket team.
