The Singer Schools Rugby League Championship will resume from May 31 with the second round as planned earlier, according to a senior official of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA).
The second round was indefinitely postponed following the recent terror attack, but was rescheduled to begin from May 31.
However, after certain schools featured in the top division raised concerns over lack of preparation, the tournament was put on hold temporarily, pending a discussion on Friday (24).
At the meeting, held at St. John's College Nugegoda, the SLSRFA officials have made a final decision to kick start the second round from May 31, but with slight changes to the match schedule.
Following the Easter Sunday terror attacks, the second round of the Schools League was called off without a date, but after the Ministry of Sports assured its fullest coorporation by providing Sugathadasa and Bogambara grounds to hold matches with security, SLSRFA rescheduled May 31 as the kick off date of the second round.
After the Friday meeting, SLSRFA has given the liberty to schools to play host at venues of their choice besides the Sugathadasa and Bogambara grounds.
In addition a few fixtures will be reshuffled according to the availability of venues.
However the Bradby Shield encounters were confirmed to be played on June 1 at Pallekele and June 15 at the Royal Sports Complex.
According to the SLSRFA all teams have agreed to continue their participation in the second round of the Schools Rugby League.
