U-19 Rugby: Sri Lanka picks initial squad for Asiad

The National Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) named an initial squad consisting of 39 names for the upcoming Asian Under-19 Rugby Championship to be played next month in Malaysia. 

The squad has a majority of eight players from the Schools League and Knockout champions Isipathana College while seven from Trinity College are also in.

SLR stated that the selected squad would continue training for a short period before being pruned down to 25.

The Asian Under-19 Rugby Championship is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 11 to 17.

The squad: Vageesha Weerasingha, Adeesha Eshan, Kushan Indunil, Lahiru Wishwajith, Isuru Udayakumara, Gayan Wickramaratna, Harith Bandara, Ranidu Promod Padmasanka (all from Isipathana), S. Kavishka (Kingswood), Udaya Sanjula (Prince of Wales), Nikhil Gunadheera, Ashok Vijayakumara (both from Royal), Nirosh Perera, Janith Laksara, Thanuja Maduranga, Supun Dilshan (all from Science), P. Dulshan, D. Amarasingha, Samuel Maduwantha (all from St. Anthony's), Rumesh Priyankara (St. Joseph's), Ravin Yapa, Sandesh Jayawickrama, Romesh Fernando (all from St. Peter's), Dhanuja Wijeratna, Ashvantha Herath, Pandula de Silva, Naveen Henakankanamage (all from S. Thomas'), Shalindra Alahakoon, Rahul Karunatilaka, Avisha Priyankara, Shaveen Ekanayake, Lashan Wijesuriya, Anuka Boyagoda, Geshan Pethiyagoda (all from Trinity),  H.
