St. Peter's College edged out traditional rivals St. Joseph's College 23-21 in their Cup Segment match of the Singer Schools Rugby League Championship played at Bambalapitiya on Saturday (22).
At halftime Joes led 13-5 after dominating the first half, but the Peterites stormed back to gain the lead each time they were overtaken in the second half.
By virtue the Peterites regained the Fr. Basil Wiratunga Memorial Shield, after a lapse of three years.
The winners scored from three tries, a conversion and two penalties, while the Joes scored from two tries, a conversion and three penalties.
