The Sri Lanka Under-20 Sevens rugby team, under the captaincy of Kevin Dixon, secured the runner-up position at the Asian Under-20 7s Championship, after losing to Hong Kong in the Cup final. Hong Kong beat Sri Lanka 29-15 in the Cup final played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the first leg of the championship on Sunday (16). Sri Lanka beat hosts Malaysia in the Cup semi-final 17-12 to qualify for the final after beating United Arab Emirates 36-7 in the quarterfinal. In the first round played on Saturday (15), Sri Lanka beat Thailand 31-5 and lost to Hong Kong 19-24. The second leg of the Asian Under-20 7s Rugby Championship will take place in Hong Kong this weekend.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
