Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was unanimously elected as the new president of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB).
At the volleyball nominations seven candidates have been selected uncontested.
Three politicians have been selected for the SLVB – the president’s post and for the vice presidents posts Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Chairman Kanchana Jayaratne.
This is the eighth time that a politician has been elected to the post of president in the SLVB.
Earlier D.B. Wickremasinghe (1970-1977), Ronnie de Mel (1987-1989), Asoka Wadigamangawa (1990-1992), Mervyn J. Cooray (1992-1993, 2000-2002), Reggie Ranatunga (1995-1997), Jeyaraj Fernandopulle (1995-1997) and Dilan Perera (2005, 2015).
The Volleyball AGM will be on May 27 at 10 am at the NYSC Auditorium, Maharagama.
