Volleyball: Sri Lanka's opening Asian Under-19 Women’s match today

Sri Lanka Junior Women’s Volleyball (VB) team skipper Dinusha Dilrukshi says that, defeating Uzbekistan in Vietnam will be their first target on Sunday (10), at the Asian Under-19 Women’s Volleyball Championships.

The tournament will be held from Sunday (10) to next Sunday (17).
 
“Uzbekistan is not a team in the Asian Rankings and we are unable to gauge their strength. Considering Sri Lanka’s strength, I think we can topple them,” said Dinusha. 

According to U-19 Women’s Asian Rankings, Sri Lanka is 15th, and last. 

Sri Lanka’s 2nd match is on June 11 against Malaysia and its 3rd match is on June 12 against New Zealand. 

Along with Skipper Dinusha Dilrukshi, there are 6 other players from Anamaduwa MMV. 

There are 16 Asian countries taking part in the competition.

Sri Lanka is Group 'D', along with Uzbekistan (June 10), Malaysia (June 11) and New Zealand (June 12) in playing order. 

Group ‘A’: China, Japan,Thailand, Vietnam 

Group ‘B’: South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhsthan, India 

Group ‘C’: Iran, Australia, Macau, Hong Kong
