Sports Minister, Dayasiri Jayasekera met with Asian Canoe Congress (ACC) President cum Japan Canoe Federation (JCF) President, Shoken Narita, when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister, while on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka.
Mr Narita was accompanied by Fusanosuke Kambara of the Japan Canoe Federation. Prithiviraj Perera, Commodore Priyantha Perera and Supem de Silva, President, Secretary General and Treasurer respectively of the National Association for Canoeing & Kayaking Sri Lanka (NACKSL), were also present at the meeting.
Mr Narita was pleased with the volunteering efforts of the relatively young NACKSL, which has been in existence for 11 years, and pledged further assistance for this pioneering effort at promoting an Olympic Sport in Sri Lanka.
This is indeed a challenging task with much scope for further development in an island nation such as Sri Lanka, with many possibilities for Water Sports Tourism.
