The Sri Lanka Weightlifting Federation has decided to send a team of 15 weightlifters (men and women) for the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships to be held from September 3 to 10 in Gold Coast, Australia.
Commonwealth medalists Chinthana Geethal Vidanage and Sudesh Pieris will be in the men’s team.
The women’s team will consist of six weightlifters.
R.B. Wickremasinghe and R.D. Wansapura will be the coaches of this squad.
The assistant coach will be G.C.N. Gamage.
The Sri Lanka men’s team: Chinthana Geethal Vidanage, Sudesh Pieris, J.A.C. Lakmal, Y.D.I. Kumara, D.K.T.W.K. Palangasinghe, D.M.I. Dissanayake, Shanaka Pietersz, Saman Abeywickrema and Isuru Senadeera.
The women’s team: Hansani Gomez, Chamari Warnakulasuriya, Mohideen Umera, Nadishani Rajapakse, Chathurika Priyanthi and H.W. T.N. B.J. Haputanne.
