Queues outside the Department of Immigration and Emigration are full of people that have been standing in line for days on end. People are desperate to leave the country amidst rising inflation and job losses as Sri Lanka faces the worst economic crisis it ever has.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that unilateral action by the UK and other countries in imposing sanctions on certain individuals do not assist but serve to complicate the national reconciliation process underway in Sri Lanka.
