More than 14 months after the containership X-Press Pearl caught fire while anchored off the coast of Colombo, the cleanup is still underway, with interim insurance compensation being paid out to fishermen who lost their jobs as a result of the wreck. Certain fisher families who were affected by the accident, on the other hand, claimed that there were compensation distribution irregularities on the ground level.
