Drunk man urinates on woman in a flight to New York from Delhi

World

Air India has confirmed an incident in which an intoxicated man urinated on a female passenger (a senior citizen) sitting in business class on board an Air India international flight. The incident took place on November 26 when an Air India flight AI 102 was flying from New York to Delhi, An Indian Media reported.

The inebriated man walked over to the victim's seat just after lunch when the lights were turned off. He then unzipped his pants and flashed his private parts to her. He reportedly stood there even after urinating, until one of his co-passengers asked him to leave

The incident came to the forefront when the female passenger wrote to Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekharan expressing her disappointment by stating that the cabin crew were highly insensitive towards the situation. They simply gave her a pair of pyjamas and slippers to change into. They apparently took no action against the culprit.
When India Today contacted the airline, they said that the incident was reported to the regulatory authorities and maintained regular contact with the female passenger throughout the probe.

Disappointed at the airline's handling of the incident, the woman wrote to Mr Chandrasekaran the next day describing what she called the "most traumatic flight I have ever experienced".

"I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the appalling incident that occurred during my business class trip on flight AI102 (commencing in NY, JFK yesterday 26th November at 12.30 pm, and arriving this afternoon in New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport at approximately 1.30 pm). This has been the most traumatic flight that I have ever experienced. During the course of the flight, shortly after lunch was served and the lights were switched off, I was getting ready to sleep, and another passenger walked to my seat completely inebriated. He unzipped his pants, relieved himself, and continued to expose me to his private parts.
The passenger sitting next to me asked him to return to his seat. He did not respond immediately, but after a few moments left the area," she said in the letter.

Air India had expressed strong condemnation and had apologised promptly after an identical incident in August 2018, when a drunk man urinated on the seat of a woman passenger on a New York-Delhi flight
“We are aware of the incident involving a passenger who acted inappropriately, affecting another. We have reported the incident to police and regulatory authorities, who will investigate further and take any appropriate action against the misbehaving party.

Throughout the investigation and reporting process, we also kept in touch with the aggrieved passenger and her family," Air India said in a statement.

An internal committee has been constituted by the airline to put the man in no fly list.
