Help! Abans gets into finance
Endangered: Sri Lanka Red Slender Loris. How much of Sri Lanka’s celebrated wildlife will we have left 25 years hence? Today, a herd of wild elephants coming to drink at a tank is a common sight in Yala, Minneriya and many such places in the island. However, if the dangerous trend of encroaching on the natural habitat of these animals continues, the next few decades could see some of Sri Lanka’s most majestic animal species becoming extinct.
Consumer electronics giant Abans Group has taken a decisive step in its strategy of diversification by setting up of the country's latest finance company, Abans Finance. Managing Director of Abans Finance, Mano Alles told The Sunday Times FT that the Central Bank (CB) approved its license application in part, due to the company's unique position in terms of penetration, owing to the wide network of Abans showrooms and dealer networks that exist across the country.

Late Mr. Lalith Athulathmudali.I first met Lalith Athulathmudali at the Joint Operational Headquarters (JOH). At the time I was recalled from retirement and was Chairman, Airport and Aviation Sri Lanka. President J.R. Jayewardene made it clear to me that he had the right to recall me from the regular reserve, which he did and I was appointed Commander JOC.

There is nothing concessional about some of them,” Nivard Cabraal, Governor Central Bank told The Sunday Times FT .....

A century of Test matches is my ... Climate experts on rice crisis
Just a week after a gruelling tour of Australia, we are back at home and the prospect of an exciting three test series against England awaits in a week. Any tour to Australia is a learning curve and I believe we benefited immensely from the experience. In the final day of the second test, we did put up a good fight, despite scoring only 246 in the first innings.
