Ashoka crosses over to UPFA

The North Western Provincial Council’s UNP Opposition leader, Ashoka Wadigamangawa, joined government ranks yesterday.

Mr. Wadigamangawa told The Sunday Times he had not been offered any post in the UPFA.

But other sources said he had been offered the Chief Ministerial candidature, if the NWPC was dissolved and elections were held.

Mr. Wadigamangawa was the state minister of Land in the President Ranasinghe Premadasa government of 1988-1993.
