Police building comes under cop scrutiny

The Police Special Investigations Unit has launched an inquiry following complaints of substandard construction of a Kandy Police headquarters structure that cost Rs. 90 million to build.

On a directive from Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratna, a Special Investigations Unit team visited the building yesterday in order to conduct investigations.

“Cracks have appeared on the walls of the building, and the toilets have begun to leak, and as a result there’s an unpleasant odour around the premises,” a police officer in Kandy said.
