Yep, you guessed it. It’s dogs on the catwalk. But this time, it’s a bit different.
Blue Paw Trust brings to you a dog show exclusively for local breeds – the type you usually see on the streets – the Bouwwa’s Show, today at the Sathutu Uyana from 10 a.m. No purebreds allowed!
Being held for the first time, around 30 competitors will vie for titles such as best coat, longest tongue, nicest eyes, cutest tail, shiniest teeth, Mr. & Mrs. Congeniality, best behaved, most cuddly, all-rounder and drama queen, Dr. Nalinika Obeysekera, Trustee of Blue Paw Trust said. All are welcome to watch, because there’s plenty to see and do.
The show includes dog training tips, a bouwwa’s secrets puppet show, awards, breed of bouwwas exhibition, a dressage, raffle draw and food and drinks. “The puppet show is mainly aimed at children and will portray issues like how not to get bitten by dogs,” Dr. Obeysekera said.
The event is held to mark World Rabies Day which also falls today.
