The second batch of teachers who submitted all four modules successfully completed their Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers last month. They will receive their certificates at the Ladies' College Department of Vocational Studies Annual Awards Day to be held on the 20th of March 2009.
One of the teachers in this batch, Ms Anupama De Alwis is the first to obtain three Distinctions for three of the four modules and thereby qualify for a Distinction pass. Anupama states that "I was searching for a teaching qualification when I was told about the Cambridge Diploma for Teachers at DVS. It seemed a chore for me at the beginning to sacrifice my Saturdays to sit and listen to a lecture. As time passed by I realized how important the things I learnt there were……. I think I am a much better Facilitator who understands both the general process of learning and the uniqueness of each individual learner. The Cambridge Diploma for teachers taught me how to constantly learn about how best to help the learners learn in the most effective way for them".
The Ladies' College Department of Vocational Studies is the only centre which conducts this prestigious Diploma course. The course is organized into four modules which reflect the key stages of the teaching and learning cycle namely, Design, Practice, Assessment and Evaluation. The next batch of students will commence their lectures/ workshops shortly. |
