Sri Lanka women win opener - Bangladesh Tri Nation Women’s Series

Sri Lanka began the Bangladesh Tri Nation tournament on a winning note when they defeated their Pakistan counterparts by three wickets in the match played at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra yesterday.

Pakistan women’s being invited to bat by Sri Lanka skipper Shashikala Siriwardena fell into deep trouble with five of their top batsmen back in the pavilion for just 26 runs. Stubborn batting in the late order by Arman Khan and Almas Akram saw them recover to end on a decent 103.

But even then Sri Lanka women too did not have things easy as they underwent some anxious before pulling off victory in the 31st over. Pakistan women the previous day overcame host Bangladesh by seven wickets.

The next match will be between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka scheduled to be played tomorrow (Monday) at the same venue.

Pakistan Women 103 in 41.5 overs (Arman Khan 25m Almas Akram 19, Sana Mir 15: Chamani Seneviratne 3 for 26)

Sri Lanka Women 105 for 7 in 30.4 overs (Hiruka Fernando 23, Dedunu Silva 19, Suwini de Alwis 17, Eshani Kaushalya 16: Javeria Khan 3 for 22) (MSA)
