Amith Tillekeratne of Sri Rahula Kandy and Malith Silva of Gateway College reached the 500 vote mark at the end of count six of the Bata Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy cricketer contest. Amith received 125 votes to finish on 552 while Malith received 110 votes to accumulate 515 votes.
’s skipper Angelo Perera maintained his supremacy in the All Island Schoolboy cricketer contest by extending his votes to 3538 having received 1005 votes at the end of the sixth count ending on February 20.
His closest rival Zahira skipper Isham Ghouse who came into contention only from last week is gathering momentum as he received 863 votes to last weeks 375 in the process going past the 1000 vote mark to finish on 1238 votes.
But the leader Angelo is still maintaining a lead of over 2000 votes. Apart from the first two placing and the third which is held on by Buwaneka Ekanayake of Dharmaraja Kandy there is a small change in the fourth and fifth slots with Nishika de Silva of St Joseph’s replacing Royal skipper Yasitha Abeykoon.
In the Outstation contest Niwanka Abeyrathne of Sri Sumangala Panadura and Aloka Priyadharshana of Moratu MV retain their position.
while there is a surprise in Krishan Wickramarachchi of Bentota MMV who has received 70 votes in his first count to come into the fourth position replacing S. Tillekeratne of Karandeniya Central.
In the International School contest Adel Niyas has moved up to the second position behind his team mate Malith Silva pushing Arunalu Weerasinghe of Lyceum to the third position while Shanuka Peiris of Colombo International is in fourth.
