As a result of this initiative taken by CSSL, a series of investor awareness programme was conducted throughout the country covering major towns such as Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala and Colombo.
CSSL recently conducted another successful investor awareness programme for 2008 with the collaboration of Central Bank at BMICH on the 11thof December.
Mr C J P Siriwardana, Superintendent of Public debt Department, Mr K D Ranasinghe, Additional Director of Economics & Research Department of the Central bank of Sri Lanka and Mr A H M Riyaz, CEO/Executive Director of Ceylinco Shriram Securities Ltd were among the distinguished gathering of this investor awareness programme.
Mr A H M Riyaz indicated that creating awareness and promoting Government Securities among a wider cross section of the investing public, calls for strong commitment. "We are very confident that by teaming up with the Central Bank we can take awareness levels to greater heights as we look forward to their proactive participation". Further, he stated that we would happy to continue this collaboration with the Central Bank to organize another series of investor awareness programs in 2009.
At this occasion Mr C J P Siriwardana, delivered a speech on "Overview of Government Securities Market and its new developments" and in his presentation he highlighted the benefits of investments in Government Securities as opposed to conventional savings and investment methods and finally he mentioned how to invest in this risk free Government Securities.
Mr K D Ranasinghe made his speech on "Sri Lankan Economy and its Trends" and he presented the importance of the government debt securities market to the country's economy.
