Mozart of Madras, that is the nickname the Indian music director A.R.Rahman has earned worldwide after his brilliant work for award winning Slumdog Millionaire.
Apart from many other awards he has won, he has achieved an Oscar for best music and best song. It is not surprising that he is a composer with a staggering range - from raga to reggae to hip hop to Indian folk to any rhythm. We still remember A.R.Rahman’s music in Roja and Bombay.
Every time we listen to a new sound track or song he has done we are blown away. He has not just won an award, he has won world recognition for Indian music. We are proud of him for his talent, creativity, professionalism, hardwok, modesty and his service to Indian and now, world music.
We believe that Rahman has conquered the world by winning Oscars for best score and song. This has been one award so far which has eluded him. He has proved to the whole world that there is no substitute for originality.
Rahman was a hit from the word go - Roja. He is a genius. As a composer his style is instantly recognisable and often imitated by others. We congratulate Rahman and all Indians, for this great musician that they have produced. Jai Ho A.R.Rahman! |
