ICC not happy with the Lankan act

Haroon Lorgat- ICC CEO

It is also learned that ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat has expressed his displeasure over the SLC participation at ICC meetings.

The Sunday Times learns that the ICC boss has said that apart from SLC CEO Duleep Mendis, other officials representing Sri Lanka make little or no contributions to ICC discussions.

Lorgat is also reported to have spoken to some Sri Lankan ICC officials and expressed his concerns.
He is reported to have indicated that if no proper cricketing administration is set up in Sri Lanka the scheduled ICC Champions Trophy which is earmarked to be held in Sri Lanka later this year may be shifted to another location.

This championship was originally to be played in Pakistan and later the ICC shifted the champions away due to security reasons and Sri Lanka was the original alternate venue.

However, Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge is not ready as yet to appoint a fresh Interim Committee.

Asked whether he would appoint a new Interim Committee soon, the minister said “Right now I have not given thought to that matter. However it is very unlikely that an Interim Committee would be appointed by me in the near future”.
